Pack the Truck (Backpack Program)

Community Service Clearing House Meals for the Kids Backpack Program

Friday, March 13, 2010 from 9am-3pm

At the Arvest Bank parking lot on Rogers Avenue (across from Central Mall)

The Community Service Clearing House provides non-perishable food items every weekend for children who are at risk for hunger and who may not have food from the time of their school lunch on Friday until school breakfast on Monday.  There are currently over 2,400 students in the surrounding area that receive this service.  To pack 2,500 backpacks a week is around $10,000.  Below is a list of specific items that are packed in the backpacks:

• Individual serving cereals
• Individual juice boxes
• Slim Jims (meat sticks)
• Pudding cups
• Fruit cups
• Cheese and crackers
• Raisins
• Breakfast bars
• Pop Tarts
• Vienna sausages
• Animal crackers
• Beanie Weenies
• Rice Krispy treats
• Jello cups

There will be a truck from the Clearing House and volunteers will be there to accept your donations.  If you prefer to donate financially, your support is also welcome.  Please make any checks payable to the Community Service Clearing House.  Let's make sure no child in our community goes hungry!
